Qatar Gold Cup 2023 Overview
Qatar had a lackluster World Cup effort losing all three games and subsequently becoming holders of the worst-ever performance from a host nation. The CONCACAF Gold Cup gives them a chance to prove critics wrong.
The experienced Carlos Queiroz is now at the helm having left his post in Iran. He’ll be hoping to resurface the Qatari performances from before the World Cup where they won the AFC Asian Championships and performed admirably in the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup. In fact, they played Honduras in that edition too and won 2-0.
While they are expected to defeat the minnows, Haiti, the game against Mexico will be a true barometer as to whether the Qatari team can hang with CONCACAF’s best.
