While classically a cultural divide between two opposing cities which both claim to be authentic Italy, the people of Rome and Milan don’t typically have much time for one another. The same can be said of AS Roma and Inter Milan, with both chasing similar goals for the season.

Jose Mourinho has been spoilt for attacking options within the Giallorossi ranks with both Lorenzo Pellegrini and Tammy Abraham performing incredibly well for Roma in both domestic and continental competitions. The latter of which is synonymous with the success in the UEFA Europa League Conference last season. However, everyone at the club wants to play in the UEFA Champions League having not played at the top European table since the 2018/19 season. While Roma could qualify by winning the UEFA Europa League, they’ll want to assure every opportunity, so must strive for a result against Inter Milan at home.

The Inzaghi name is a polarising one across different pockets of Italy. While Filippo Inzaghi scored goals for Juventus and AC Milan and was the more decorated player, his brother, Simeone has flourished as a manager. Of course, he knows the Stadio Olimpico well having played for Lazio between 1999 and 2010 and later managing them for five seasons before joining Inter Milan in 2021. His prior experience will most likely give him a frosty reception from the Roma fans.

Edin Dzeko made over 200 appearances for AS Roma after being cast out of the plans at Manchester City. He was largely impressive in the capital as he finished as the league’s top goal scorer one season and was voted as the club’s player of the season on another occasion. Yet a falling out with the-then manager, Paulo Fonseca shunted the striker toward the exit as he joined Inter Milan in 2021. Despite being with the Nerazzurri for a much shorter duration, he’s won two trophies with the club – two more than he did with Roma! While the home fans won’t be enamored to see him, some will certainly salute his prior service to the club.

The reverse fixture at the Giuseppe Meazza finished 2-1 to Roma back in October. Roma came back from a goal down to take all three points back to the capital, courtesy of a rare goal from Chris Smalling.

Worked with multiple sports broadcast companies covering a wide array sports. Previously found at NISSAN Stadium, now more local to Elland Road. Missed a penalty in a youth competition cup final.
